About Us

Established in 2008, Mayfly Internet Marketing is a full-service digital marketing agency supplying web design, PPC, social media management and SEO services to companies in the UK and around the world. We’re a small but effective team with a broad skill set and diverse backgrounds.

About You

As an SEO Content Writer for Mayfly, you’ll be confident demonstrating creative content writing skills in conjunction with a good all-round understanding of SEO. From eCommerce product pages to SEO-focused blog pieces, to new websites and data-driven articles. You’ll be working across a full spectrum of content formats – ideating, writing, and planning content that delights our clients and drives results amongst their target audience.

You’ll have great research and writing skills, and will be confident writing in a range of formats for a broad spectrum of audiences. You’ll be able to take ownership from ideation to publishing. You’ll deliver work on time, responding cooperatively to client comments, and balancing their specific requirements with what is required to provide them the best content for their website.

You should also have proven experience working within an agency or in-house marketing team. Work may at times be short notice or ad hoc; agency life requires a level of flexibility and a willingness to adapt to the changing requirements of the account management team and the client base. Most importantly, you’ll have a concise, efficient work ethic that allows you to maximise work within tight timeframes.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Writing to specific SEO-oriented copy briefs and hitting deadlines.
  • Developing long-term content plans and blog calendars.
  • Ensuring basic SEO on-page optimisations are in place within copy.
  • Analysing and improving existing copy.
  • Identifying content gaps and topic opportunities.

Qualifications:

No formal qualifications are required, however, you should have proven writing experience, professional and/or academic.

You should also have experience writing for a web-based audience, as well as a working knowledge of SEO best practices.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of SEO
  • Experience of working in an agency or in-house marketing team

Preferred:

  • Basic skill level of publishing to WordPress
  • Experience with tools such as SEMrush, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console and GA4

What We Offer:

  • Work collaboratively with clients in diverse industries from the UK and further afield.
  • Access leading search tools, and further your development with additional learning.
  • Modern, social, open-plan office environment in a shared co-working space.
  • Annual Christmas night out and team lunches to celebrate our successes.
  • Comprehensive health insurance, including annual cover for eye care, physiotherapy and dental.
  • 22 days Annual Leave, plus Bank Holidays and your Birthday off. Additional day off accrued yearly after 2 years of service.

Schedule:

34 hour week – choose to either:

  • Compress hours into a 4-day week from Monday to Thursday (8.5 hour days).
  • Or, work minimum 7 hour days in the office Monday to Thursday and WFH for remaining hours on Friday.
  • Flexible working hours, with option to start from 6:30am and finish as late as 6pm.

Application Process:

  1. If you think this is the role for you, please send us your CV along with case studies, examples of previous work, or a portfolio.
